Sixth Week
This week is the real beginning to my practicum, my lecturer called me and told me to teach, so I forwarded it to my mentor and she told me to pick the classes that I want, I picked Monday and Tuesday so I could have a mini holiday the rest of the week.
I arrived at my school at 7:20, fairly late, my mentor told me it's better to arrive at 7:00 but I underestimated the time I need to get ready. Riding to school, after I've arrived, I stopped by the guard for temperature check, he's quick to know that I'm a new teacher. I parked my motorcycle and asked someone that I assumed is a teacher "where is the teachers' office?", he started asking me questions and I introduce myself while we walk to the teachers' office.
Entering the office, a lot of other teachers started looking at me until someone asked about me and I introduced myself to all the teachers.
Before the class began, I was nervous to the point of almost puking and always holding my bladder, there's a lot of expectations that I set for myself and I'm really timid if I don't fulfill said expectations.
I entered the class with my mentor, she introduced me, I introduced myself and hace a little chit-chat with the students. Then I look at the lesson plan that I brought along and follow it closely, and that was my first mistake because I finished the lesson 30 minutes early, I was not prepared to teach at all and uncooperative students did not help, plus I barely sleep the night before due to my nervousness.
But, I managed to drag my time by doing activities related to the lesson.
The lesson I taught that day was about directions and how to say which way you're going, how to differentiate left and right. I make sure the students understand it fully before ending my class.
